Launched in July 2023, the park, housed within the former Sears building at Capilano Mall, has witnessed an influx of local riders and visitors alike. Boasting a cutting-edge pump track, jumps, berms, airbags, a street area, mini ramp, teaching facilities, eating area, and more, the park caters to a diverse range of riders. Its overarching mission—“To provide an inclusive, safe, and weather-independent indoor cycling experience for biking enthusiasts of all levels”—has been resoundingly accomplished.
Building a vibrant community around the indoor park, the North Shore Bike Park hosts engaging “theme nights.” These include dedicated events like Women’s Night, offering a unique and secure space for femme-identifying riders to shred. BMX Night celebrates the 20-inch lifestyle, while “Lil Shredder’s Mornings” from 9-11 on weekdays ensure younger riders can enjoy their playtime without feeling overwhelmed by larger riders. The park also collaborates with local organizations such as Family Services of The North Shore and Bikes for Tykes, contributing to the surrounding community.
This past weekend, on November 4th marked the official grand opening. A ribbon cutting ceremony overseen by the City of North Vancouver’s Mayor, surrounded by supporting members of the local mountain bike community. The new venue has plenty of space for special events and trade shows, with the rooftop plaza offering 360 degree views of Vancouver, Ocean and the North Shore mountains.
