Cycling Business Insurance in Canada
Commercial liability and property for the businesses behind the bike industry — brands, distributors, delivery fleets, service providers and everyone whose work does not fit a standard category.
We provide coverage for all bicycle-related businesses
(OVERVIEW)
If your needs do not fit the other categories, start here.
Brands, makers and manufacturers
Bike brands, frame builders, component and accessory makers, and apparel and equipment brands — where what you build carries responsibility after it leaves your hands.
Distributors, wholesalers and importers
Bringing product into Canada, holding stock and selling on — including the products liability that comes with being the party that put an item into the Canadian market.
Service, expertise and technology businesses
Mobile mechanics and at-home service businesses, bike fitters and studios, cycling media and production companies, cycling tech and platform startups, and consultants and planners working in active transportation.
Delivery, fleet and bike share operators
E-bike delivery, courier and cargo logistics companies, plus bike share and valet operators — riders on the road, bikes as property, and support vehicles behind them.
What’s Covered
Commercial General Liability
Bodily injury and third-party property damage, covering products you make, your operations, spaces you lease and assets you own. Usually mandated when entering working contracts. $2-10M liability limits.
Commercial Property
Owned or leased offices, equipment, delivery e-bike fleets, machinery, stock and buildings. Added to the CGL or written standalone.
Products liability
For brands, manufacturers and importers, covering claims arising from a product after it leaves your hands.
Errors & omissions
For consultants, fitters, planners and anyone selling expertise rather than goods.
Cyber
E-commerce, customer data and payment systems.
Optional add-ons

(WHY BICYCLE BROKER)
Lowering Your Overall Risk
- General liability policies are complex and confusing. We break down what you are actually buying rather than just getting the risk approved.
- Every company is different and demands its own insurance strategy — we do not template it.
- We understand the cycling supply chain, from a frame builder’s workshop to an importer’s container.
- One broker across your business, your fleet and your personal coverage.
- Canadian carriers, Canadian contract requirements, Canadian answers.
Ways to save
(BUNDLE OPTIONS)
Put property under your liability policy
Adding property under your general liability policy rather than writing it standalone is usually the cheaper structure, and it is one renewal instead of two.
01Bundle CGL, property and cyber
Three coverages most cycling businesses end up needing anyway, written together rather than bought piecemeal as each contract demands them.
02Flexible payment terms
03Preferred rates across your policies
If your business is with us, ask about preferred rates on your fleet and personal policies too.
04Cycling Business Insurance FAQs
Still not sure where you fit?
Tell us what your business actually does and we will work out the structure around it. No obligation.
A contract requires $5 million CGL and names them as additional insured. Can you do that?
Yes. Commercial general liability is commonly mandated when entering working contracts, and additional insured wording is routine. Send us the contract clause rather than just the limit.
We import e-bikes. Do we need products liability?
Almost certainly. As an importer you can carry the same responsibility as the manufacturer for a product sold in Canada, including battery and electrical failures. This is worth reviewing before your next container lands.
We run an e-bike delivery fleet. What do we need?
Fleets bring together several exposures: liability for riders on the road, property coverage for the bikes themselves, and often non-owned auto for support vehicles. How your riders are engaged — employees or contractors — changes the answer significantly.
Do you work with businesses outside cycling?
Yes. We are here to help more operations looking to serve cyclists across Canada, and plenty of our clients sit adjacent to the industry rather than inside it.
We are a startup with no revenue yet. Is it too early?
No. Many contracts, retailers and investors require proof of insurance before you ship anything, and it is easier to build the structure early than to retrofit it.
We run the business from home. Does our home policy cover it?
Generally not. Home policies exclude or heavily limit business activity, including stock stored at home and clients visiting. We can review both sides, since we handle home coverage too.
Can we insure property on its own without a liability policy?
Yes. Commercial property is most often added under a general liability policy, but it can be written standalone.
What if our business does not fit any of your categories?
That is exactly what this page is for. Send us what you do and we will build the structure around it.
